How does it work?  Its too easy . . . really.

You can establish your fund with a minimum contribution of $125. Others can add to your fund at any time, but the initial contribution to start it up should come from you. Your initial contribution is matched with $250 from the Mitzi & Henry Saeman Endowment Fund and an additional $125 match will be donated by the Columbus Jewish Foundation, which also will administer the fund, bringing the “initial value” to (at least)$500.

You can contribute gifts at any time. The fund will also grow if parents, relatives or friends contribute on special occasions.

How Much Can Be Used for Tzedakah? Good question.
Teens can make  gifts to charities of their choice provided a minimum balance of $250.00 remains in their fund. Of course, all earned income is credited to the fund and is available for charitable giving.

The benefits for our future generations are enormous.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah children learn at an early age to be involved in the important work of their community.

How the Fund Works for You?
Your named fund is activated with at least $500. Throughout the year, the fund will grow as it accumulates interest income. You can add money to your fund any time, in any amount you wish. You can also invite others to contribute for special occasions, like your Bar/Bat Mitzvah, a great report card, a birthday, or graduation.

The Columbus Jewish Foundation will contact you throughout the year to ask you which charity(ies) you want to support. You can donate as much as you wish, provided that a minimum balance of $250 always remains in the fund.

You also will receive a quarterly fund statement which will list the contributions, interest income earned, and charitable contributions made that year from your fund. Not sure which charities you want to support?  The members of the Foundation’s staff are available to serve as a resource. You decide the charity, we take care of the rest.

We will send a check to the selected organization informing them that a gift has been made from your fund. You will have the opportunity to do this throughout the year. A “Tracker” is enclosed for you to record each year's charitable contributions.
